Friends don’t let friends babble
You know the ones. Those people who when you ask to pray, you get a whole lot more in return: reams of churchy-talk and runs of “we just want to thank you for ____.” It has a name, apparently, as seen in the video below. I know this makes light of Tourette’s syndrome but it has an interesting point: does dipping into hyper-religious speak distract from your goal of embodying Christ? Check it out:

False start.
This has been a pet peeve of mine for years. Babbling like pagans, just as Jesus warned us about. A conditions kicks in at the end of a lot of meetings. Collect joys & concerns from the group (this is a Good Thing) then spend 10 minutes repeating every name and status/desire in prayer (this often turns into babbling).
It's like in church when you end up almost certain that the man praying on behalf of the church has decided to put all of his daily prayers into one 10 minutes speech. This is funny, but only because it's true…ok, it's sad.

This is almost as bad as the "sermon prayer," in which the person who prays rehashes the entire sermon in different words. Both are incredibly boring, and I suspect God feels the same way.
